Hilltop Elopement in Hill End

Athena & Kashi

Athena and Kashi invited their closest friends and family to the historic village in Hill End for an intimate elopement followed by a hearty dinner in an historical house in town. They knew eachother from school, but started dating 12 years later after reconnecting. Athena says she was living in Port Macquarie at the time, and Kashi in Sydney, so it was a little tricky to organise a first date. But finally, on one of Athena's visits to Sydney they arranged to meet at the steps of Town Hall, for an evening of rock climbing show shpopping followed by a rock climbing session at the gym.

When they were ready to move in together, the property market had boomed, so instead they went overseas to do volunteer work in Nepal. Athena says they finished their 12 month assignment in Nepal just before Covid isolation became mandatory and found a place to live together in Sydney. After the second lockdown, Kashi proposed during a camping trip in the Blue Mountains together on the most magical spring day and the rest is history.

Athena and Kashi were married by Misha Harding on the very same spot they found out the sex of their baby - a little girl who was in Athena’s tummy at the wedding. They had gone to Hill End for a weekend away when the midwife called and caught them in the only patch of reception in Hill End! It is such a beautiful story and made their vows on Split Rock extra special.

These two adventurous souls invited a handful of the friends as well as family to stay in Hill End with them, celebrate their elopement with views over the valley and end the day with a simple heartfelt reception was a big hearty meal of soup and Nepalese inspired cuisine at an historic house in town.
