Jess and Troy

A few weeks after our maternity shoot, I went back to Jess and Troy’s home in Borenore outside of Orange, NSW to photograph their two-week-old beautiful baby boy, Phoenix. Photographing newborns is one of my favourite things to do - they are so squishy and gorgeous and tell you exactly how they feel! Their facial expressions are just divine - they really don’t hold back!

A question I get asked a lot is if there a perfect time to photograph a newborn baby. Babies are very little in the first few weeks and still have that squishy curled up newborn look. As they get older their little bodies bulk up and straighten out, but they are still very much little and cute! For me often it’s about how to parents are feeling and what feels right for the family as a whole. You can have family photographs anytime you want. If capturing them when they are very fresh is important to you then that is the right time to do it! If you want to wait for any reason - then that’s the right time for you and your family x

With Phoenix, jess and Troy we attempted to photograph their fur babies with their three humans for a family portrait. The dogs were so gentle with the baby, but very wriggly and extremely camera shy! As challenging as it was to capture two adults, one newborn and two dachshunds in one image all looking great at the same time - we did it. And I am so excited for Phoenix to grow up with with these family portraits to see how much love was in his home, how little he was in those first few weeks and how cheeky his little puppy brothers were!

Phoenix is blessed to have two gorgeous parents, Jess and Troy, and I am so excited to watch him grow up and experience life in Orange, NSW, with his mum and dad.
